Overview
Rock Citadels & Turquoise Seas: Trinco & Mountain Escape
This six-day cross-country journey connects the historic interior, the turquoise eastern coastline, and the mist-laden central massifs into a cohesive travel experience. Departing the western plains, the expedition pauses at Pinnawala to observe resident elephant herds before continuing into the heart of the Cultural Triangle to Sigiriya, home to King Kashyapa’s 5th-century rock citadel.
From the central plains, the itinerary heads east to the historic harbour town of Trincomalee. Perched above the Indian Ocean on the precipice of Swami Rock, the ancient Koneswaram Kovil offers a dramatic spiritual setting, complemented nearby by the geothermal wells of Kanniya. The tour then ascends into the hills to Kandy, the last royal capital of Sri Lanka, housing the Sacred Tooth Relic and hosting vibrant traditional drumming and dance recitals.
Climbing further into the high ranges of Nuwara Eliya, guests encounter cascading waterfalls, working tea plantations, and the sacred Sita Amman Temple before descending to Colombo for an urban orientation tour. Every transfer is managed with private vehicle logistics, experienced coordination, and structured daily pacing.
